Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tenufa Bakehila has operated a Mobile Emergency Repair Unit to respond to urgent calls and carry out minor but essential repairs for families in need. To date, the unit has completed over 2,000 emergency interventions.
Installing handrails, repairing switches, shutters, and electric water heaters, replacing door handles and locks, unclogging sinks, toilets, and bathtubs, installing bathroom heaters, and more.
One such case involved a single mother from Bat Yam with no family support, whose apartment was flooded for four hours after a pipe burst. With no means to pay for a plumber, she turned to Tenufa’s emergency unit. The rapid, professional response restored the apartment to livable condition—at no cost to the family.
The Emergency Repair Unit ensures that urgent housing needs are met quickly, preventing further damage and providing immediate relief to families in crisis.
